As Serbia opens new EU chapters, Serbia’s chief EU negotiator, Tanja Miscevic, warns that Belgrade will eventually have to revise all its current bilateral trade agreements, including with Russia. Serbia is expected to open two more chapters - on education and culture and on enterprise and industrial policy - in its EU accession talks on Monday. By then, Serbia will have eight of the total of 35 chapters open and two temporarily closed. In an interview with BIRN, Tanja Miscevic, head of Serbia’s EU negotiation team, said a key part of the negotiations on EU membership involves designing a special dynamic to revise each standing agreement that Serbia has now with other countries. This revision, as well as EU rules and regulations, will determine whether some agreements remain valid, have to be changed or have to be terminated, she said. Among other agreements, this will affect Serbia’s trade relations with its traditional economic partner and a historic ally, Russia, she warned.   Source: Balkan Insight
